Tucked between Sarasota and Venice are the unincorporated towns of Osprey and Nokomis. These areas are diverse gulf coast areas ranging from multimillion-dollar homes on the intercoastal waterways to less expensive opportunities inland.
Casey Key is the barrier island off Nokomis and is the home of many celebrities. The vibe of the beaches here is very “chill” and quiet and private. This area is less populated than Sarasota and Venice. Many of my buyers love this area as it is close to Siesta Key and Downtown Sarasota, but not as crowded during the season.
This area is not well known for its public schools. These towns are right off Highway 41 or the Tamiami Trail, so they are convenient to Sarasota or Venice. However, the infrastructure is not sophisticated as Sarasota or Lakewood Ranch. Meaning beautification on the main roadways is somewhat behind the times. Still, I do love both Osprey and Nokomis for the buyer who wants to be near the beach and is looking for a more economical home or a home to renovate.
This area is on the upswing! One of my favorite neighborhoods is the SouthBay Yacht and Racket Club. It is a boating community with 180 boat slips offered at a low monthly cost and low HOA. Also of note, the Pine View School is located in this area and is one of the highest charter schools in the USA!
